About Us

Shannon and I are both 29 years old. We have been dating since 2003 and have been living in Seattle Washington since May 2004. We are very spontaneous, adventurous people who prioritize traveling. We are at a point where we want to slow life down and put our perspectives back in focus. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day grind and forget what’s important about life. To us, experience is living! We want to appreciate every moment and love our friends and family! What could be better? We are setting out in hopes of growing and expanding our own comfort zones. We have a great deal to learn and there is so much more to life than what we personally know. Mark Twain said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Exactly. Who hasn’t dreamed of doing something completely unorthodox, but didn’t because they were afraid or had to change their routine too much? We don’t want to be one of those people who say, “I wish I had…” Here we go. Shannon and I have very supportive parents. In fact, they have given us the confidence and courage to do anything we want in life. Thanks, guys!

Hey Cuz,
March 21st, 2007 at 5:38 pmWow sounds fun, don’t drink the water!
So exciting!!! My three months in Southeast Asia were amazing and I’m certainly wishing for them again now. It will be great for you two to travel together, but don’t be afraid to split up or to plan less rather than more! Some of the best times I had were when I arrived somewhere not knowing much about where I wanted to go. I’ll be looking forward to keeping up with you on the website, and if you want any suggestions for Thailand, Vietnam, or Southwestern China, let me know!!

Wow, less than a month away for the big departure. I plan to follow you both around the world, so be sure to keep the updates comin’. I had hoped to see you before you departed the campus, but alas — time got away. At least we had a great visit and your postcard was hand-delivered instead of “mail”. What a fantastic journey ahead of you both. Keep up the website with all your adventure and pictures. Godspeed be with you and Shannon.
April 4th, 2007 at 11:33 amI will look in on your website from time to time wishing Tiff and I were there with you. Helen Keller once said “Life is either a great adventure or nothing”. Good luck on your great adventure.

We wish you a wonderful year and can’t wait to hear about each and every piece. We’re looking forward to helping you kick it off in NYC, too! Love, Kate, Ryan and your other favorite nephew named Will

I’m showing my girlfriend (of 5 months) your site and talking all about the good talks we had. I went with her to Louisville, KY (I love KY) to meet her mom, ironic huh? Don’t be a stranger and take care….Shannon, take care of my friend while she’s away.

Hi April and Shannon!
This is Kate’s step sister, Amanda. We have not met yet but I wanted to tell you that I think it is so amazing that you two are having such an adventure. Can’t wait to read more of your stories.
I met Maggie last weekend and she is adorable!
If you get a chance while you are in Prague, I found the communist museum pretty interesting (ironically it is inside of a casino).
Lots of luck and I look forward to meeting you in the future.

You guys could have crossed paths. Anyway, golf has been great and Seattle has - well, been Seattle. We got a mini-dachshund and named him Oscar Myers!

Hello April and Shannon,
I have been keeping up with your travels, seems you all are having a great time. I do envy you both for having so much gumption and courage to follow your dreams. Never be afraid because God is with you, everytime you step out on faith the way you two have done, God will always be with you. I do miss you here at work, Garnell and I are still fighting as usual. I do hope to see you both when you return to the States.
